Jim Gibson has spent the majority of his 44-year working life in the road transport industry. After starting as a motor mechanic he became an interstate driver in the mid sixties, progressed to transport operations as a manager for a couple of major road transport companies.
Jim worked for Volvo Trucks Australia in the early eighties as a regional sales manager and then their driver trainer. He has been the national sales and marketing manager for two multinational truck manufacturers. He also owned his own mechanical repair business before taking an interest in journalism.
Then he started writing PR articles for a truck manufacturer. then went on to work as a freelance journalist writing articles for truck magazines.
He was the last editor of Truck & Bus Transportation magazine before its sad demise and then became managing editor of FPC's two truck titles Truckin' Life and Truck & Trailer Australia. After resigning from FPC he currently works for Rice Graphics at their National Marketing Manager. Jim is also now a freelance writer for many mediums and also is contracted to write for various transport companies.
