The Trans-Help Foundation was established in 2006 to assist transport personnel and their families with the side effects of the transport industry. When creating the concept of the Foundation it was imperative that we went national, as drivers can be in any state and any time when they need support. Also the chances are that their family may be in another state when they were in need of help or support.
Trans-Helps direction has expanded as a result of what we call the “call of the road”. It was a response to the diverse range of calls that we received via our national support line.
Since our inception we have assisted thousands of transport personnel and their families through our National Support Line and our Mobile Health and Support Unit.
Accidents and fatalities are a reality of the industry, with many families suffering. This is not just in the interim, but the long term effect. The families are faced with financial hardship, the WorkCover process and the long term grief or road trauma.
There are also many health issues in the industry. Whilst there is a major focus on driver fatigue the government and the corporates have lost site of the underlying issues and mask it all under the heading of “fatigue”. Hearth disease, depression, road trauma, diabetes, cholesterol, sleep apnoea, obesity, just to name a few.
Our mobile health unit was established to traverse our major transport corridors to provide preventative health checks for drivers who find their schedules impossible to make or keep doctors’ appointments. We also offer onsite support for drivers suffering road trauma or general depression.
Our team understand the industry, the regulations and the regulators which assists our clients when they pick up the phone and make the call. We also have a strong national network to ensure we can assist no matter where you are based.
We have both men and women answering callers, so if you feel uncomfortable talking to the person who answers, please ask for someone else to call you back.
Our foundation also covers a diverse range of other issues and has a network of resources Australia wide to assist... No matter what your issue, we will endeavour to provide assistance or direction.
