Foundation? (THF) To put simply a lot. Workplace Giving is a win-win-win for workers, employers and charities. It is a simple effective way for employees to regularly donate to a trusted charity that meets the ASIC and ATO requirements and criteria. The Trans-Help Foundation has tax deductible gift recipient status (DGR) so your giving is tax deductable.

Every little bit helps. Make regular, convenient, pre-tax donations to the Trans-Help Foundation and make a difference to health and wellbeing of the Australian transport industry.

Commitment and active support from the community is vital in helping us to actively have our Heath and Support Units on the road, provide and maintain our 24/7 support services, both online and via our 1300 number and also to operate and maintain our respite and training centre.

The Trans-Help Foundation’s Workplace Giving program is a simple and very effective way of giving. The amount you nominate is deducted directly from your gross salary each pay period. (Some company drivers have opted to make an annual one off donation of one RDO.)

For charitable organisations, workplace giving provides long term, stable funding for core programs. This funding has little or no administrative cost - there are no receipts and no cost to attract donors with targeted communications.

For employees, workplace giving enables affordable giving, through a transparent and trustworthy program, with no costly fundraising. Employees are able to make donations in an efficient and tax-effective manner, eliminating the need to collect receipts or wait until the end of the year to claim a tax refund.

For employers, workplace giving can provide a low cost, administratively simple way to create community/business partnerships and build employee morale, by mobilising significant funding and volunteer involvement.

How do we set up a Workplace Giving program?

Once your business has chosen to support the Trans-Help Foundation, here are the steps to set up, launch, and maintain a successful Workplace Giving program. There are four simple steps to setting up a Workplace Giving program:

Nominate the Trans-Help Foundation as cause of choice

As a fundraising team, a company can make a big difference to the lives of sick children and their families. A little each week can help more children have less sick days. Companies can further demonstrate their support for the community by matching their employees’ donations.

Set up the internal processes.

You need to clear the process internally; usually consultation with payroll and HR is required.


Company Workplace Giving responsibilities:

¨ Distribute a pledge form to staff through the employee induction packs, the intranet or other employee communication mechanisms

¨ Receive completed deduction authorisation form and ensure correct and confidential distribution of funds

¨ Key information from the authorisation form into the payroll system (process similar to other packaged expenses / deductions already made by payroll)

¨ Forward donations to nominated community organisations each pay period.

¨ Record employees’ workplace giving contribution on the annual PAYG summary (Group Certificate)


3. Launch the program

Launching the program is an important part of the success of any Workplace Giving program. The Trans-Help Foundation can assist you to organise a successful launch for your workplace.


Once your Workplace Giving program is established, we can discuss options of acknowledgment.


4. Keep the enthusiasm going!

The Trans-Help Foundation has many ways that people can stay in touch with the great work that is being achieved here daily. Participating staff can get regular updates about the work that is being done and where the money goes through the Foundation. We can also assist you with organising thank you events to celebrate milestones of giving.
